"A Silicon valley company Audience plans to show off an integrated circuit at Mobile World Congress, which hopes to improve the sound quality of mobile phones. Measuring 2.7mm x 3.5mm in size (48 pin), this baby chip can do a lot of things, specifically, filter out almost all unwanted background noises of a busy street, disco, or train station, so as to provide its user with crystal clear voice transfer quality.
The key to enhanced sound quality is the fact that the chip has higher quality suppression, than the software in phones on the market today. The Audience chip sits between the microphone and the cellphone circuitry and runs software the company has developed on its own. Impressively, Audience claims the system has the ability to identify, and block up to 25 decibels of extraneous sound. No more details on who might pick this chip up or when, and if, it will become available in handsets are available as yet
