Most contemporary gene sequencing programs handle only binary aspects, avoiding nonlinear aspects altogether. But to quote "Hacking the Genome" in the April 1992 Scientific American:"The clarity of the answers will depend on asking the right questions." Asking the right questions for computation now may be to look at DNA and the I Ching and ask, "Why is each essentially a nonlinear model that utilizes the principles of co-chaos?"
Probing for these answers may reveal much about the basic patterns in life's physical and mental systems. It may offer a new way to build computers that can imitate the basic number framework that is hidden within life itself its mind and matter, showing how they interact and perhaps even show the universal coding at the root of nature.
Number itself forms the root. To find this deeply-embedded root, we do not discard traditional scientific linearity, but instead we add something new - analogs. Analog plus linear gives analinear number. It is not just linear. It combines the chunky lumps of binary sums with the flowing proportions of analog ratios to birth a transcendent new third form. Some call it nonlinear, but Stanislaw Ulam has pointed out this is a rather silly term, since most of life's problems are nonlinear. He said calling something "non-linear" is akin to calling most of the animals in the zoo "non-elephants."
Therefore, I prefer to use the term analinear,since it uses both number modes to denote a synergistic third state.
Binary number seeks a goal, a solution, the summation of a quantity of units. It is discrete, end-stopped by the goal - the quantity. But analog number does not emphasize a solution, a goal, a final lump sum. Instead, it discusses the quality of relationships along the way. It brings up all kinds of resonant associations that open the doors to further process rather than closing them down into the sum of a final answer. That's the trouble with analogs, from a traditional point of view. Analogs network rather than end-stop. They engender resonances that linearity does not want to deal with because it prefers to stay tidy and neat and hurry to a quick solution - not trigger a network of related resonances that reinforce entrainment.
Entrainment is the main signature of analog number. It does not care about summary quantity, but rather, about relative qualities along the way. It compares in shifting ratios, not striving for an end but rather for the consummate trip, so that finally it never get there, because there becomes irrelevant. The end is no goal at all as it instead just keeps on traveling. When analog and linear combine into analinear number, the result can do both - find straight-line solutions and keep traveling in cycles. The result is the spiral of change.

We ask ourselves: how could the ancient East and the modern West, so far apart in space and time, come upon the same mathematical model? The ancient East called this structure the I Ching and said it is an oracle that codes for the flow of psyche, while the modern West sees the same structure as DNA coding to build flesh. Its underlying root brings mind and body together. To explain this, one must consider the I Ching's fractal aspects.
My book Tao of Chaos discusses in detail the ability of both DNA and the I Ching to combine fractal analog and binary functions. It is based on modern chaos theory, which can predict a trend without specifying its exact details. Chaos patterning is determined because it can predict an overall pattern, but also chaotic because it cannot specify any exact point of its next manifestation. The mathematician can determine its general form but not the exact contents. Patterned chaos has its own special signature:
Order in the midst of apparent disorder.
Cycling that repeats with continual slight variation.
Scaling that fits one level into another like nesting boxes
Universal applicability.
Chaos theory has enabled us to find pattern within apparently random events. With it, we can rise to a new level of vision to discover simplicity within complex flux. Long ago in China, it was called the tao.
This strange realm of patterned chaos first began to be explored mathematically in the West to any extent during the 1960s, often on makeshift analog computers that charted a peculiar cyclic patterning. Its odd vocabulary of fractals, Julia and Mandelbrot sets, butterfly effects and strange attractors suddenly opened up a new "nonlinear" reality.
This transcendent use of number is seen in the I Ching, developed perhaps 5,000 years ago. It is also seen in the DNA structure discovered in the 1950s.
Briefly, here is a synopsis of their parallel structures:

Furthermore, one trigram is balanced against the other to create the 64 hexagrams that may be seen as 64 sets of paired Period 3 windows utilizing both binary and fractal components. Then within a hexagram, these bigrams may be read across its two trigrams to encode the message of an amino acid, providing in all, the 64 codons of RNA. Furthermore, it can be shown that the I Ching and genetic code not only use the same mathematical structure, but they also cross-correlate into the same meaning for each of the 64 units - with the result that, for example, the Opal codon of the gene's full-stop signal actually equates to Hexagram 12 of Standstill.
Thus, each system - genetic code or I Ching - gives a microcosmic rendition of the larger principle of chaos theory. Fortunately, these two models, ancient and modern, provide us a means by which to apprehend a mathematical paradigm that is perhaps inherent in the fabric of the cosmos itself.

Since binary merely indicates the 0-1 shunt of a discrete chain of logic, it discounts the integrating fractal properties that are inherent in analog number, and thereby it misses the complex sophistication of cycling, shifting ratios. If we do not see this, we completely overlook the amazing combination of binary structure plus analog relationship that reveals the master code. The I Ching and the genetic code offer microcosmic models of this mesh of analog and linear number.
To balance and harmonize the analog and linear is the special gift of analinear computation. It happens in the ancient I Ching and in the modern DNA. By combining binary counting with fractal proportion, this paradigm creates nonlinear equations, or more properly, analinear equations that may one day provide a new kind of computer.

Είναι ευκαιρία σε αυτό το τόπικ να συζητήσουμε για το I-ching (όπως είχε ζητήσει ο καλός φίλος bisbi).
Η δική μου πρώτη επαφή με το I-ching έγινε σε ηλικία 12 ετών περίπου, τότε που κυκλοφορούσε ακόμα "Το βιβλίο των μικρών εξερευνητών" [κάποιοι θα πρέπει να το θυμάστε-δείτε σύνημμένο].
Φυσικά ούτε ήμουν σε θέση να καταλάβω πολλά πράγματα, ούτε το βιβλίο εξηγούσε σε βάθος τι είναι το I-ching. Έδινε όμως τις εξηγήσεις κάθε εξάγραμμου και τον τρόπο με τον οποίο μπορούσε κανείς να το χρησιμοποιήσει για να "ζητήσει συμβουλή" για κάποιο πρόβλημα που τον απασχολεί με τη βοήθεια ενός κέρματος.
Για κάθε κορώνα έπρεπε να σημειώσει κανείς μια διακεκομένη γραμμή, ενώ για γράμματα μια συνεχή δημιουργώντας έτσι ένα εξάγραμμο μετά από έξι ριξίματα του κέρματος και διαβάζοντας την αντίστοιχη εξήγηση.
Ήδη έχω βρει μερικές πιο σοβαρές πληροφορίες περί I-ching και σύντομα θα τις αναρτήσω εδώ, μια που ξέρω ότι θα ενδιαφέρει πολύ και τους fan του LOST.
Τα περιβόητα σήματα της Dharma δεν είναι παρά μια μορφή Ba-gua (που σημαίνει όπως διάβασα: Οκτώ τρίγραμμα).

Αγαπητή Isiliel,
ίσως είναι καλύτερα- καθώς δείχνουν τα πράγματα- να συζητήσουμε πρώτα για το "DNA". Τι λες;
Εγώ πάντως "ρίχνω" σαν πρώτη πρόκληση το παρακάτω "ζήτημα":
Τα «Κατά Ιωάννη» και το « τεστ DNA»: μία υπόθεση εργασίας 10.000.000 τουλάχιστον ετών!
Ποιος πίστεψε ποιον πρώτα, ο άνδρας τη γυναίκα ή η γυναίκα τον άνδρα; «Τι είναι μεταξύ εμού και εσού, γύναι;»[FONT="][1][/FONT]: λόγος, βαριά ερωτηματικός!
Αλλά ήταν άραγε η πίστη εξ αρχής που έφερε σε κοινωνία αυτές τις δύο τόσο ανταγωνιστικές και εχθρικές μεταξύ τους υπάρξεις; Μπορεί αρχικά να ήταν η σύγκριση, έπειτα ο φόβος και τέλος, ο χρόνος. Η πίστη έτσι μοιάζει περισσότερο, σαν ένα παιχνίδι της σύγκρισης και του φόβου, με τον χρόνο. Ένας αλγόριθμος, που περιέχει όλες τις (παραδεκτές) προϋποθέσεις της ανοησίας(πχ των μωρών), κι απʼ την οποία γεννιέται η παιδική απορία και η αναγεννητική( κι όχι, «γεροντική») σοφία.
Το καλό, για το παιχνίδι, είναι που ταʼ αποθέματα ανοησίας στον κόσμο, ως πρωτογενής, είναι θεϊκά απροσμέτρητα. Αυτό, το καλό, το κάνει( το παιχνίδι) ατελείωτο και όχι ατελές. Στο ατέλειωτο δε, έχει αξία για τους ανθρώπους η σοφία και όχι, στο τέλος. Απλά, τέλος έχει η ίδια η σοφία, στο μέτρο που για τους ανθρώπους αυτή έχει κάποια αξία. Ποια όμως;
Ο φόβος είναι, εκτός από όλα τα υπόλοιπα που γράφτηκαν και ειπώθηκαν γιʼ αυτόν, και βασικό συστατικό του ζωικού ενστίκτου. Η μνήμη του τρόμου, από παλιές (και αρχέγονες) διαψεύσεις ελπίδων. Είναι ρίγος οριζόντιο, σφάχτης των σωθικών μας. Δεσμός με νεκρούς χρόνους, που φέρνει συνήθως κρύο ιδρώτα. Αδιάλειπτη ανάμνηση μίας πανανθρώπινης αλήθειας, ότι στη μοναξιά μαραζώνει, ακόμη και η αγάπη.
Η φύση του είναι φυσικο-χημική. Ο τόπος του, στο μυαλό μας. Αλλά ταυτόχρονα είναι και μία πύλη της ανθρώπινης ύπαρξης, μπροστά στο κενό. Το κενό είναι νόημα, όπως το σημείο είναι σχήμα. Μόνον που το κενό έχει διάσταση. Το περιβάλλουν άλλα «νοήματα με περιεχόμενο», άρα έχει και όγκο.
Το κενό υπάρχει μόνον στα μυαλά των ανθρώπων και στων κατοίκων του: θεών, δαιμόνων, διαβόλων και τριβόλων(αρχαγγέλων). Μαζί του η επιστήμη δεν ασχολείται a priori, ως μη υπάρχον (μη ον). Είναι το «Επέκεινά» της, παραχωρημένο μέχρι του νυν, στη Μεταφυσική. Το κενό είναι, «πνευματικό». Και ίσως( η πρώτη ιστορικά πραγματική φυσική διαφορά της διάνοιας των ανθρώπων, από εκείνη των υπόλοιπων εγκεφαλοφόρων ζωντανών του Πλανήτη.
Είναι κάτι περισσότερο από ιδέα, αν όχι αυτή καθεαυτή η πηγή όλων των ιδεών. Είναι πεντακάθαρο, αμόλυντο και «θεοσκότεινα φωτεινό»: συνώνυμο του «καθάριου». Η ιδέα για παράδειγμα, είναι πρόξενος αισθημάτων και συναισθημάτων, και βιώνεται μόνον μέσω αυτών: και με τρομακτικά τεράστια κατανάλωση «ενέργειας»( κάθε είδους). Ενώ το κενό βιώνεται από τον άνθρωπο, ακόμη και ως απουσία ιδεών: αφού είναι κάτι περισσότερο από ιδέα.
Το κενό είναι σκοτεινό ή τόσο φωτεινό, που δεν έχει χρώμα, δεν φαίνεται. Ακόμη και το «κενό», για παράδειγμα, της χύτρας, δεν φαίνεται καθόλου, αν η χύτρα έχει κατασκευαστεί από «ατόφιο χρυσάφι». Ένα τέτοιο κενό, διδάσκει η ιστορία των τριών (τουλάχιστον) τελευταίων χιλιετιών, χώριζε τον άνδρα και τη γυναίκα( βλέπε Μενέλαο- Ελένη, Σωκράτη-Ξανθίππη, Καίσαρα-Κλεοπάτρα, Ιησού Χριστό-Μαρία κλπ), μέχρι να ανακαλυφθεί απʼ την Χημεία, το «DNA»!

ίσως είναι καλύτερα- καθώς δείχνουν τα πράγματα- να συζητήσουμε πρώτα για το "DNA". Τι λες;
Εγώ πάντως "ρίχνω" σαν πρώτη πρόκληση το παρακάτω "ζήτημα":
Τα «Κατά Ιωάννη» και το « τεστ DNA»: μία υπόθεση εργασίας 10.000.000 τουλάχιστον ετών!
Ποιος πίστεψε ποιον πρώτα, ο άνδρας τη γυναίκα ή η γυναίκα τον άνδρα; «Τι είναι μεταξύ εμού και εσού, γύναι;»[FONT="][1][/FONT]: λόγος, βαριά ερωτηματικός!
Αλλά ήταν άραγε η πίστη εξ αρχής που έφερε σε κοινωνία αυτές τις δύο τόσο ανταγωνιστικές και εχθρικές μεταξύ τους υπάρξεις; Μπορεί αρχικά να ήταν η σύγκριση, έπειτα ο φόβος και τέλος, ο χρόνος. Η πίστη έτσι μοιάζει περισσότερο, σαν ένα παιχνίδι της σύγκρισης και του φόβου, με τον χρόνο. Ένας αλγόριθμος, που περιέχει όλες τις (παραδεκτές) προϋποθέσεις της ανοησίας(πχ των μωρών), κι απʼ την οποία γεννιέται η παιδική απορία και η αναγεννητική( κι όχι, «γεροντική») σοφία.
Το καλό, για το παιχνίδι, είναι που ταʼ αποθέματα ανοησίας στον κόσμο, ως πρωτογενής, είναι θεϊκά απροσμέτρητα. Αυτό, το καλό, το κάνει( το παιχνίδι) ατελείωτο και όχι ατελές. Στο ατέλειωτο δε, έχει αξία για τους ανθρώπους η σοφία και όχι, στο τέλος. Απλά, τέλος έχει η ίδια η σοφία, στο μέτρο που για τους ανθρώπους αυτή έχει κάποια αξία. Ποια όμως;
Ο φόβος είναι, εκτός από όλα τα υπόλοιπα που γράφτηκαν και ειπώθηκαν γιʼ αυτόν, και βασικό συστατικό του ζωικού ενστίκτου. Η μνήμη του τρόμου, από παλιές (και αρχέγονες) διαψεύσεις ελπίδων. Είναι ρίγος οριζόντιο, σφάχτης των σωθικών μας. Δεσμός με νεκρούς χρόνους, που φέρνει συνήθως κρύο ιδρώτα. Αδιάλειπτη ανάμνηση μίας πανανθρώπινης αλήθειας, ότι στη μοναξιά μαραζώνει, ακόμη και η αγάπη.

Πρώτη φορά που άκουσα για το I-Ching ήταν σε ένα ντοκιμαντέρ με τίτλο Doomsday 2012: End of Days, το οποίο αναφέρει ότι μια έρευνα με βάση το I-Ching μαζί με άλλες προφητείες, υποδεικνύουν μια συγκεκριμένη ημερομηνία για το τέλος του κόσμου.

Τίθεται ακόμη ένα ερώτημα: το κενό ή ο φόβος φύτρωσε πρώτα στη φυσκο-χημική σύσταση των ανθρώπων; Η δυτική παράδοση βέβαια εγκολπώθηκε κατ' εξοχήν τη βιβλική εκδοχή: «Αρχή σοφίας, φόβος Κυρίου». Αλλά το αν ο «φόβος Κυρίου» έχει ως αρχή του το κατώφλι του κενού, μόνο ο Σωκράτης το ομολόγησε και ο Ιησούς ο Γαλιλαίος το φανέρωσε(δόξασε): «Μακάριοι», οι φτωχοί στο πνεύμα, οι καθαροί στην καρδιά και λοιπά.
Το κενό έχει πρόσοψη φυσική και γι' αυτό υπάρχει στη φύση και όχι έξω απ' αυτή. Ή μήπως ο άνθρωπος δεν είναι φύση; Αν όμως δεν είναι φύση ο άνθρωπος, τότε και όλες οι υπόλοιπες συνέπειες του μηδενός και του απείρου, είναι αφύσικες και «παρά φύσει». Είναι λοιπόν αυτό που εννοούμε (μέχρι σήμερα) ως άνθρωπο, κάτι πράγματι «παρά φύσει»; Μία παρασπονδία, που κάνει τα πράγματα να φθάνουν το πολύ μέχρι το «λίαν καλά» και όχι στο τέλειο; Γιατί τέλειο και «παρά φύσει», μπορεί εν ουρανοίς να ταιριάζουν, αλλά στη φύση, όχι.
Πάντως, «κενό-φόβος-κενό-πίστη-κενό», αποτελεί μία πεντέμυχο διάσταση του ανθρώπινου λογισμικού, αποτέλεσμα της οποίας, καθώς φαίνεται, συνέβη το τυχαίο( γεγονός, η ιστορική προσέγγιση και κοινωνία του «άνδρα» και της «γυναίκας», ως φυσικές προϋποθέσεις αναπαραγωγής «γένους», από δύο άφυλα είδη.
Το κενό που ολοφάνερα βίωσαν μεταξύ τους άνδρας και γυναίκα, κατά τους πειστικά μαρτυρημένους τουλάχιστον ιστορικούς χρόνους, αποτέλεσε το πεδίο όπου ο νόμος της έλξης και της άπωσης δοκίμασε την αντοχή του. Και άντεξε. Μα δεν άντεξαν τα «δύο φύλα» (δύο διαφορετικών ειδών) και ο «ανθρωπότυπος» που γέννησαν, κατά την ιστορική τους αυτή περίοδο. Ήδη στην εποχή μας, εποχή ιδιαίτερη και γόνιμη για ιδιαιτερότητες (και ειδικότητες), βρίθει συμπτωμάτων… του φαινομένου.
Η βιβλική ανθρωπολογία εισάγει το κενό- ως αθωότητα- πρώτα στον «Άνηρ»(άνδρα). Ο Αδάμ μόνος του, είναι «ανήρ»: αυτός που έχει μέσα του αέρα(αήρ). Στον αέρα εκείνο θα πιστέψει ο Θεός («Πιστός ο Θεός»!) και θα συμπεράνει, ότι έφταιγε η μοναξιά του[1]. Κι ο Ίδιος εξάλλου, για άγνωστο (και άχρηστο ανθρώπινα) πόσους χρόνους και καιρούς πριν απ' την Πρώτη Ημέρα, μόνον από μοναξιά είχε βιωμένη πείρα.
Ο Αδάμ λοιπόν ήταν ελαφρόμυαλος από κατασκευής του, κατά τη βιβλική ανθρωπολογία: «διότι ο λογισμός της καρδίας του ανθρώπου είναι κακός εκ νηπιότητος αυτού[2]». Έμπαζε το μυαλό του, κατά τη γνωστή λαϊκή σοφία( ή πείρα. Κάτι που δεν απέχει από την παραδοχή, ότι πρώτος αυτός απέκτησε κενό «μέσα» του. Ήταν- στον Παράδεισο;- σαν τον αέρα: «Ο άνεμος όπου θέλει πνέει…αλλά δεν ξέρεις από πού έρχεται και που πάει», λέει στον Νικόδημο ο Γαλιλαίος, κατά το Ιωάννου, κεφάλαιο γάμα, παράγραφο οκτώ.[ Γι' αυτό ίσως, Ιουδαίοι, Χριστιανοί και Μωαμεθανοί, δεν βρήκαν ακόμη, μετά από τόσους αιώνες, τον Παράδεισό (τους)!]
