There are two academic laboratories devoted to parapsychological studies in the United States. The Division of Perceptual Studies, a unit at the University of Virginia's Department of Psychiatric Medicine, studies phenomena suggestive of the survival of consciousness after bodily death. The University of Arizona's Veritas Laboratory conducts laboratory investigations of mediums.

North America is also home to several research organizations promoting parapsychological research, such as the American Society for Psychical Research, the Parapsychological Association, the Parapsychology Foundation in New York City, the Instituto de Latinoamericano de Parapsicologia in Queretaro, Mexico, the International Association for Near Death Studies in Connecticut, the Rhine Research Center in Durham, North Carolina, and the Society for Scientific Exploration, with officers throughout the U.S.

The major parapsychological journals that are published in North America are Journal of Parapsychology, Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, Journal of Scientific Exploration, and International Journal of Parapsychology. Other North American journals that have published articles on parapsychological topics include Psychological Bulletin, The Humanistic Psychologist, Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing, Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Alternative Therapies, Behavioral and Brain Science, Science, and Proceedings of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Institute of Noetic Sciences

The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) was founded in 1973 by former astronaut Edgar Mitchell to encourage and conduct research and education programs on mind-body relationships for the purpose of expanding "human possibility by investigating aspects of reality, mind consciousness, and spirit."[1] The term noetic is defined as "pertaining to, or originating in intellectual or rational activity." Institute programs include research in what they call "extended human capacities," "integral health and healing," and "emerging worldviews". This includes research into spiritual energy, meditation, consciousness, alternative healing, spirituality, human potential, psychic abilities and life after death, among others.[2]

Headquartered in Petaluma, California, the Institute's membership is approximately 35,000.[3] The organization is situated on a 200-acre (80 hectare) campus housing an active retreat and learning center. [4]

The Institute publishes a quarterly review called Shift: At the Frontiers of Consciousness.

Έχω φαΐ με κουτάλι σαν δορυφορικό πιάτο την παραψυχολογία και γενικά τα ανεξήγητα επίσης έχω κανει και έρευνες σε προσκοπικό επίπεδο και έχω ταξιδέψει σε μέρη που λένε για τέτοια πράγματα( εντός Ελλάδος )
